Skin Cancer
At Perschbacher Dermatology, we believe that early detection is key to effective skin cancer treatment.
A skin cancer screening involves examining the skin for moles, unusual growths, or lesions that might be indicative of skin cancer, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma.
Regular skin checks are a vital part of maintaining your health and ensuring the early detection skin cancer. Dr. Perschbacher takes her skin exams very seriously and takes great pride in providing a thorough and extensive skin check.
Why Regular Skin Cancer Screenings are Essential
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer globally, and regular screenings are vital because they help detect cancer early, often before it spreads. Factors such as fair skin, increased exposure to UV radiation, and having a higher number of moles can put individuals at a higher risk. Dr. Perschbacher, in line with recommendations from the American Cancer Society and the Skin Cancer Foundation, encourages regular screenings, especially if you have increased risk factors due to genetic factors or lifestyle.
Our Skin Cancer Screening Process
- Visual Skin Examination: A detailed check of the skin surface by our experienced dermatologists to identify any suspicious lesions or moles.
- Skin Biopsy: If a suspicious area is found, a skin biopsy may be performed to determine if cancer cells are present.
- Follow-up Care: Based on the results, we provide comprehensive follow-up care, which may include further testing, in office treatment or a referral to a surgeon for more extensive removal.
